Robert Sorby Turning Tools

A fundamental belief is that anyone starting out in pen turning should buy the best quality tools that they can afford.  Poor quality tools quickly lose their edge and will definitely cause frustration.  Often the novice pen turner thinks that they are at fault when in reality it is their tools and the result is that they lose motivation to turn.  In addition, considerable investment in a lathe, tools, accessories and time are wasted.

The solution is simple use tools that are made from high speed steel.  Using tools made from M2 Sheffield High Speed Steel, Robert Sorby assures that a fine edge will be obtained each time a tool is sharpened; thus lessening the frustrations that come from dull tools!  The tool set below was created for BG Artforms with pen turning in mind but will still offer the flexibility to turn spindles and smaller bowls.  I hope you enjoy this set of Robert Sorby Tools!
